Bastille. Flaws (Acoustic) - Monday Morning Motivation

October mornings were made for listening to Bastille. This acoustic session of Flaws.. I have no words. His voice is insane and of course is only showcased more perfectly with some orchestra harmonics.

Rhodes. Raise Your Love - Monday Morning Motivation

Homeboys range is unreal. The background strings and choir embodies the creative masterpiece I would demand if I was a famous performer. Brilliant.

Five Mile Town. Curious Creature - Monday Morning Motivation

This filmography is equally to the beauty of these voices. Any band rocking out in a library corridor gets 10 points for Gryffindor in my book.

My Best Yes

photo blog3_zps563e925e.jpgOne of my all time favorite women, Shauna Niequist, advocates the need for being present over perfect in this swell blog post. Here she states, "I want to forgive myself for all the things I’m not, all the things I’ve been trying so hard to be. And I want to hold out my hand and invite the people I love into that same compassion, for ourselves, for one another. I want to be free to love wildly, to be silly, to fail and try again because bravery is worth infinitely more than staying safe on the sidelines, afraid to look foolish. I’m discovering, inch by inch, a new way of spiritual living–less striving, more receiving. More love, less hustle. This is changing everything. Everything." The girls in my small group at church have been reading The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst which highlights the importance of making margin space in your life (saying no to certain things) in order to make room to say YES to the best things that come your way.
All this babble to say, I have and most likely will be taking a longer hiatus from consistent blog posting. While it is super important to document our daily lives for later in life when my noggin is fried and I truly love sharing our lives with others, I am desperately trying to be present in these limited days of infancy. It becomes so easy to dive into social media and miss the treasured moments I have with Levi. Pinterest while breastfeeding, watching Netflix while he's looking around the room, Facebook Garage Saleing during naptime. It's too easy to be somewhere else and not with my new little man.. and I fall into the trap all too often. I can not believe he is 7 weeks old! The time is insanely flying by and I expect this to be the case until Levi is off grown and married, starting a family of his own. So bear with me as my little family falls into a new routine and discovers how to be present and say our best yes to our newest favorite man.
photo blog1_zps86d92649.jpg Some quick family and life updates!!
-Levi has totally embraced the miracle blanket swaddle and transitioned to the crib! I thought I would be itching to get him out of the bassinet in our room, but honestly the transition has been far harder on me than him. It's so weird to not have his nightly babble and moving waking me up. Dude has been sleeping 7 hours straight since the move! Praise the Lord for that!
-I've been relishing in the domestic lifestyle and found the time and joy to start cooking nightly again. We have had tacos, omelets, enchiladas, chicken-less veggie spaghetti, stir fry and more. I'm so grateful to my body for champing through feedings and births and workouts and still craving the need to jump into the kitchen and make something with my hands.
-We are soaking up these cooler days and rainy weather! Bopants would love nothing more than to live somewhere with this climate all the time.
-Levi has been extra exploratory recently- enamored with staring all around the room, LOVING the outdoors and laying on the floor. It's the cutest.
-This month, we had lots of fun visitors! All of Bo's parents came down, my parents joined us, our dear friend Raven stayed for a couple days and we connected with some good Aggie friends. Sharing Levi with those we love is one of the sweetest parts of motherhood. Next weekend, we venture back to our hometown. I can't wait to introduce Levi to our friends there!
-I joined a new moms group and womens bible study through our church. We have met tons of new friends and getting more involved with our community here. Plus, I appreciate any excuse to dress up Levi and meet other babies.
 photo blog2_zps36a3cd1c.jpg
My Best Yes is to live everyday as a present and focused wife for Bopants and Momma Bear for Levi, enjoying him while he is still so tiny and I am able to stay at home. Everything else is adjustable and relatively expendable. Thanks to all our friends and family who have blessed us and been so loving during this beautiful season of life!

Kye Kye. Trees & Trust - Monday Morning Motivation

Kye Kye weaves straight scripture throughout most of her songs, which is blended between the most beautiful vocals. I love the thought behind each lyric. For example, this chorus "Lord help me, Help me remember (Jon.14:26) flesh is weak, my spirit's strong, (Mat.26:41) dressed the trees you saw their splendor more to you, love I am more. (Mat.6:26-34)" Bloody brilliant.

Jack Johnson. Good People - Monday Morning Motivation

Jack Johnson sings like September- cheery with the wrap up of summer heat and joy, but with all the comforts of fall. Bopants and I share a mutual Jack obsession in the dating days with his music, so there's also that connection to falling in love in the fall with his serenades. Happy start to Fall!

Happy 1 Month Baby Boy!

Oh sweet Levi, you are just the darn cutest peanut in the whole wide world. I am entirely obsessed with you. In the timeframe of 30ish day, you have stolen our souls with your snuggles and poop dances and burps and squeaks. I am beyond blessed to be your momma and spend my days staring at that growing face of yours. You are quickly becoming one of my best friends and favorite people on the planet- which is impressive considering you don't talk to me and tend to have more bodily functions than my average amigo. Watching Bopants grow from husband to daddy has been a priceless experience that makes me swoon for that stud even more than I did before.

Some of my favorite memories with you from this month have been watching many friends and family fall in love with you. Many walking trips around the lake and mall. Daytime naps. Funny face wiping. Squeaky outcries. That pink baby smell. All things soft and precious. Being a baby is just the coolest, I'm sure. You are pretty darn entertaining.

Thank you buddy. Thanks for stretching us, molding us, cracking us up and giving us another great reason to get out of bed in the morning...or 2/5am for your sleepy feedings.

The Avett Brothers. Laundry Room - Monday Morning Motivation

September calls for some beloved Avett Brothers. By far one of my favorite live acoustics performed by this duo. Everything from the weather to the beards to the outfit screams fall. I embrace this with open arms and ears.

Avalanche City. Sunset - Monday Morning Motivation

I rarely post official music videos, but Avalanche City always has the cutest and most creative gems. Their bubbly tunes and bright colors are the perfect wrap up to August. "We'll steal love songs tonight" - dynamite lyric.

Dear Facebook Garage Sales, I should save us all the trouble and sign up for rehab therapy due to my pure addiction to you. Better than eBay. I check you literally every hour and have purchased flower pots, combat boots, baby goods and tennis shoes on you in the past 2 weeks. Whoops. Dearest chewy granola bars, who knew you would be the midnight snack lifesaver. I've downed an embarrassing amount of you guys in the past 15 days. Let the good times roll. BBC Network, I bestow the golden trophy of show creation on/to you and you alone. Between Doctor Who, Sherlock and Call the Midwife - you struck a creative tv goldmine. Beats all American tv all day everyday. To the inverter of color changing diapers, you da you da best! Lifesaver in the infant changing department. Sweet lil Levi, I am crazy madly insanely head over heels in love with you!! Everyday you catch me off guard with something new or more precious than the day before. I am loving this whole motherhood shindig.

Future of Forestry. Slow Your Breath Down - Monday Morning Motivation

Future of Forestry is one of those bands I have listened to for years and just recently saw via video and was surprised by the visuals of the band. Not who I pictured, but a million times better. One of my favorite songs.

Sweet Child of Mine

photo photo_zpsc0cdc92e.jpg Being a momma bear to the sweetest boy on earth has by far been the coolest/most awesome/thrilling/insane experience ever! I am a huge fan of this little man. Levi is such a goof with all his faces and uncontrolled hiccups and constant snuggles. My favorite part of motherhood thus far has been watching other people fall in love with him. Is there a better joy than sharing the thing you most love with others?? He is beautiful and perfect and smells that perfect baby pink. So far we have enjoyed many naptimes, Gilmore Girl/The Office episodes, musical jam sessions and desserts galore. It is truly the best. I love you to the moon and back in a booze filled rocketship and back! You are already molding me into the best version of myself. I am so blessed to be your momma bear and I can't wait to tackle this adventure of life with you by my side.

Mommyhood has been in full swing at our house since the arrival of baby Levi last Monday, which has resulted in much blog neglect. These were the shots from the week right before popping out baby. Bopants had a work trip in New York City in my 39th week, so my parents came over for an extended slumber party just in case I went into labor early. We soaked up our week with movies, getting them hooked on Sherlock, hitting all my favorite eateries, some shopping and lots of selfies. We even fit in glasses shopping which inevitably resulted in my momma bear and I ceaselessly mocking my dad's desire for Ben Franklin glasses. Such a swell last week of non-babyness. Thankfully, Levi held on one more week till Bopants got home to make his big debut. Updates on motherhood to follow!

Young Rebel Set. Penny to My Name - Monday Morning Motivation

This gent's husky voice would be my ideal Jesus vocals - full of rasp and honesty. Love the subtle background drumming. Kudos.

Glass Pear. Where Is My Home? - Monday Morning Motivation

Any band who can bring chilling melodies to an old cathedral demands respect. Glass Pear first caught my attention with their song "Dizzy" and I have since been an avid fan. 1:40 is my version of a heavenly chorus. Just saying.

Late Night Hospital Thoughts

photo p1_zpsc03510df.jpg It's 0:52 or almost 1am for you non-military time folks and baby bump and I are just soaking up some last minute moments sharing the humble abode that is my abdomen. Theoretically, I should be writing this retrospectively..not to mention specifically when I'm not hyped up on Ambien sleep meds. But tis life and I felt the time and urge to type out my slew of last minute pre-labor thoughts now. So here we go.

My thoughts are more in rant mode. Category style.

Hospitals. Free gown and towels. Cute babies. Insane amount of cleanliness. Questioning my utter lack of hand sanitizer along with 98% of the average person's cleaning products in my house right now. Aware of how much crap we lugged in. Including but not limited to: cute recycle awareness pillow, color blocked backing pack, baby carseat with stuffed animal securely strapped in.

Dinner. Starving. Playing pro con list of every possible meal before going into labor. How does one even accept that challenge? Go big or go home. 5 pieces of cheese pizza washed down with garlic sauce later I start to question my impulse decisions.

Entertainment. Spying on other's newborns seems frowned upon. Books..bleh to much thought. Netflix saves the day again. Mindy Kaling writer. The Office binge. Funny. Short. No labor/family drama or focus. We have a winner.

Pre-labor fun. Contractions. Not so cool. Uncomfy sloshy constricting. Sit in bed while the only thing that sounds remotely pain relieving involved a hot tub lazy river of sorts. **Million dollar idea here!! Hospitals should start installing these things like yesterday. Super warm lazy river streams with cabana boys and fake palm trees and beach bars where new moms to celebrate defeating this blasted discomfort.

Baby Levi. asdjf;alsdjkfalksjdf;aldjksf;asldfj;alskd. Excitement overload to see you TOMORROW. Freaking out insanely about the unknown and pain and weirdness of us no longer sharing a body. However, I keep getting that image from Harry Potter where Voldemort and Professor Quill share a turban head body which was super creepy... so now that's got me sidetracked. (blame the ambein, remember). You are going to be the coolest kiddo ever and I am pumped to share you in the world with all my other friends. Since I can't sleep anyways, feel free to come on out now!

For a special bonus:
some final pre-birthing Pillow talk with Bopants and Levi

Bopants: *leaning head on my 9 month preggo stomach "Oh! You are just walking on my face riht now! I bet have a big head. Don't worry though, we'll get you outta there. We'll just bust open this body!"
and by "this body" he was referring to his 9 month pregnant wife

Bopants: "Leviiiiii. Are you hungry or are you sleepin? Am I talking to a stomach or am I talking to my son? I just don't know sometimes little get so quiet. Give me some kicks!!"

Me: "Feel Levi just jabbing his knee/ankle/boney body part into the side of my body
Bopants: "I don't feel anything."
Me: "That's probably because he just moved."
Bopants: "Yeah, because he know I was coming and didn't want to get into trouble." *pause* "He is such a good boy!"

Pillow talk with Bopants & Levi

photo BopantsandLevi_zps76003493.jpg Once again, I majorly failed in the consistency of these great late night convo posts between the hubs and offspring. Since this little man could be joining us in the real world any given moment, I figured it was time to do another pillow talk feature.

Bopants: "Levi, are you just sleeping in there? I bet you are. Enjoy it while you can because one day you'll be 20 and then you'll never be able to sleep again. Unless you are like your momma.. in which case you will be sleeping all the time."
Me: *not smiling. Unamused by this recent deduction.

Husband has been quite disappointed that my belly button never officially popped out. I myself was aokay with one less quarky body change to deal with.
Bopants: "I am ready for this inny belly button to pop out! Maybe if we get a lil suction like a plunger. I'm obsessed with this little belly button."

Me: "What song are you humming?"
Bopants: In complete seriousness. "The Levi song. It's going to be a hit." As he continues to rock my belly and feet with his humming rhythm.
Bopants: "The app says they can feel movement. I bet he's dancing in there to my humming."
Levi: Continues to kick along with the humming

Bopants: "Do your baby toes hurt when you kick mommy? You gotta be careful not to hurt yourself little guy!"
Glad he's showing concern for one of the involved parties. Notice he had no words of comfort for the mommy who daily gets the daylights beat out of her intestines.

I love these two dudes too much to handle. Can't wait till Levi starts chatting back to his Papa Bear! Bound to bring out even more comical goodness.

Branches - Monday Morning Motivation

Everything about this cover. Her vocals are too striking for their own good. Feel free to browse all their covers and original albums. You're welcome.

These past few days and weeks have literally flown by! Finishing final baby preparation, catching up with friends from and visiting Dallas, date nights and library runs. That about sums up 1/872 of our current craziness.

-Momma & Papa Bear constantly send the cutest selfies on our family group text. By far one of my happiest iPhone joys.
-We've explored a plethora of eateries in D-town. Scoring this delicious Mediterranean cuisine was a major delight.
-One of my oldest and dearest friends, Jocelyn, tied the knot at the end of June! I took a lil road trip home to help with flowers and festivites. I've decided I much more enjoy helping with weddings than planning my own. Watching the bride love radiate from sweet friends is such a treat - it's so cool to see someone you've known and loved for so long taking this next huge step with someone that completes them entirely.
-IHOP was having some outrageous deal on pancakes (a short-stack for like 99 cents) the other week! We just about died of excitement. When we went inside we couldn't see any promotionals for the deal at our local IHOP, so Bopants got a bit weepy. But alas! They were indeed having the sale, just totally sucking at their marketing attempts.
-I might have gone a bit crazy at a clearance baby clothes sale at our local Once Upon a Child. Pretty sure I got our lil peanut 20 something outfits. Oh well. They were a total steal!
-Embracing this time waiting for Levi has been full of sweetness, impatience, hours of tv and many library trips. These are my most recent novela scores.

Not pictured
-I've been insanely lucky enough to catch up with many friends the past few weeks including but not limited to: Katie, Jade, Maddie, Bethany, Camille, Michelle and Michelle! I'm trying to take advantage of pre-newborn time by soaking up solid social connection with all these ladies whom I love.
-Bopants and I have started building our Dallas community thanks to some super awesome couples at Watermark. We've only spent a few weeks with these awesome people and I am already fully obsessed. The wives are all on a group text that blows up no less than 5 times a day. I can tell that we are gonna be friends.
-Lots of Tour de France and Gilmore Girls and Sherlock binge watching going on in this household. Baby Levi is bound to come out chanting for Tejay Van Garderen, sarcastically full of Lorelai wit and obsessed with British crime solving. But lets be honest, that would be aokay with me.

The Apache Relay - Monday Morning Motivation

The Apache Relay have been on constant repeat in our little house as we prep for baby. Blissful mix of folk&alternative&striking vocals. Plus, lets all just swoon at this location and wardrobe mashup. Kudos dear fellows.

In my spare time, I have binged a rather ridiculous amount of youtube. Here are some links to cool videos you should watch in your free time because they are amazing.

If school had been this entertaining and full of John Green, I might have actually remembered some things. This pieced all those years of history in brilliant creativity.

1. This is a roundtable with every hilarious actress you dream about being bffs with in real life. 2. They are full of lovely insights and reality and humor. 3. Reread 1&2.

Ingrid has my heart in the vocal/songwriting department. "Over You" has some of the best harmonies my ears have ever heard. Not the best quality video, so you should go buy the Lights Out cd to fully appreciate. 4:20 - you are welcome.

 photo dear_zps186e0e4c.jpg
Dearest Dr. Pepper with a squeeze of lime, thank you for constantly providing me the perfect pick me up to a long afternoon. I gave up my soft drink addiction for most of college, but you have befriended me in a time of need (aka growing a baby) and for that I am forever indebted to you. Oh HGTV, how you can keep me company with daily house makeover marathons. I have an unhealthy love for anything designed by Jonathan and Drew Scott. With their 3 shows alone, I am constantly entertained. I could move to Waco today and have Fixer Upper make me a dream home. Jesus can feel free to take my heavenly mansion blueprints from any of Joanna's designs. Dear Mindy Kaling, I joined your fan-wagon a little late. You are utterly hilarious and I have vowed to re-watch all the Office seasons to really appreciate your writing early work. The world owes you tremendously for The Mindy Project brilliance. Shouldda got an Emmy! Lastly lil Levi, Oh! How you love to kick the crap outta me all day everyday. I mean, I truly appreciate the 24/7 companionship from my inner womb, but I am just about ready for you to tumble outta there. Really. Anyday. You just feel free to grace us with your presence pronto.

Family of the Year. Buried - Monday Morning Motivation

Talk about the perfect dancing down the street in the midst of a mid afternoon rainy shower melody. Granted, the lyrics are a lil quarky but that just makes them all the better. Love their harmonies.

Our Independence Day

photo 2_zps698ff06a.jpg Happy post long weekending! I'm realizing now that is a rather depressing greeting for those of you in the workforce. Apologies. Sidenote: the lighted area in the left top corner is a TREEHOUSE BAR. Yes folks, a bar in a treehouse. Have I mentioned how much being preggo and unable to consume booze stinks. Only a couple more weeks till this lil dude pops out and I can reunite with alcohol. We had a surprise visit from my dear old friend, Bethany! It was utterly pleasant. I've known Bethany since we were wee little babes and growing our friendship over the past few years has been splendid. photo 3_zps39b38f7f.jpg She reminds me of drinking a stout cup of coffee: warm to the soul but also very grounded with the ability to remind your senses of things forgotten or hidden away. We chatted for 7 hours straight about everything in life. Big. Small. Random. Surface. Deep. Bethano possesses that unique ability to make literally anyone and everyone feel comfortable. But this girl is a challenger! She asks hard questions and won't let you get by with blanket answers. One of the many reasons I treasure her friendship.
 photo 0_zps89a57f48.jpg photo 1_zps67d3e8bc.jpg
That would be my husband abandoning our obnoxious banter to go pensively look out into the rather nasty green lake. Typical life, this is the only photo I have of both of us from the weekend. Whoops. Story of my life taking stupid selfies and no actual quality photos. photo 4_zpsd1f8cb5b.jpg We stumbled upon this outdoor food truckyard and located a country club with an insanely grand fireworks show that we stole views to as we drove back and forth down the main street to avoid parking and mosquitos. One of my first real hangouts with Bopants was at a 4th of July party 4 years ago. So funny to see how far we've come!
   photo 6_zps1ea41084.jpg photo 5_zps9503f7e8.jpg
Saturday we popped down to Austin for some of our favoritest friend's stock the bar wedding shower. We managed to hit up some of our favorite local spots including Mozarts Coffee RoastersMagnolia CafeSummermoon Coffee and a couple more. We met up with one of my most hilarious friends, Jordan and got to see Bo's sweet preggo sister and brother-in-law. Definitely a perfect little weekend getaway. Living more central to all these other towns and friends is truly the bee's knees.
 photo 9_zps75f24cdc.jpg photo 7_zpsab2dbd7d.jpg
Few things in life can bring me joy like a good bowl of queso. I would love to blame pregnancy for the cravings, but I have to admit this one came the day I was born. Hope your 4th was festive and full of relaxation, good company and delicious eats :] Over and out.

Lewis Watson. Sink or Swim - Monday Morning Motivation

1:37. You're welcome. This chaps vocals and lyrics get me every stinkin time. Can't beat that backdrop.

Seven Day Snapshots

Getting out of cyber routine is easily as hard, if not worse than the gym conundrum. Once you stop consistency, getting your mojo back is 203109283 harder than in the first place. Or at least that is how with my silly little self. I just kept putting off blog updates for a million reasons, but today I have decided to put on the metaphorical sweat pants and hit the elliptical again.

Over the past few weeks, Bopants and I have had our share of change and celebrations!
-We had our one year anniversary (WHOOOOP) and rang in the joy with Sunday brunch at a local eatery sitting outside with rainy weather. Can you say perfect?
-Our old landlords had my insanely talented father draw up our first backhouse home and gave it to us as our moving away present. How sweet is that? The little cottage was great to us and I am so stoked to have a treasured memory of our first home together.
-Baby bump has been growing away! Gotta love accenting it with a good cats in outer space shirt.
-Not really sure what our lovely couple shot was from.. chalking up memory loss to pregnancy brain.
-Little Levi has had his fair share of attention the past few weeks. I might or might not be minorly obsessed with my new OBGYN and her nurses who write cute things on ultrasounds.
-One of my many fun weddings this summer took place in the ever eclectic Roswell, New Mexico. Farleys was by far the most funky (and surprisingly delicious) place I have ever eaten. Ordering the "specialty" fish and chips at a retro alien themed diner in the middle of New Mexico seemed a bit too sketchy for even me, but alas - no regrets! Enjoyed every bite.
-My old ma and hubs just kayaking on White Rock Lake because they are all outdoorsy and whathaveyou. During the time of the photo opt, my mom and I were getting our shop on at Macys. Shame? Nahhhh.
-Parentals are becoming all cultured and jet setting the world now that they are child free. They visited Israel for a couple weeks and sent us daily emails with precious photos like this one^^
-Bopants and I both had birthdays in June and loved celebrating with good family, friends and grubbin. I love me some birthday month!!

Welp, that about catches us up to today. We are insanely enjoying our new Dallas life (which is rather shocking to all parties involved). Can't wait to pop out Levi and have another little dude to hangout with. Let the good times roll.
